Belgrade

Travel Tip:  Make sure to verify that you only use a registered taxi company while in Belgrade!  Some "independent" drivers have increased rates that can be 5 times higher than normal.  Try Pink or Naxis.  Remember, you can go quite far for about $12,000 dinars (approx: $10.00 EUR).  Or get your hotel to call.

WHAT KIND OF CURRENCY DO THEY USE IN SERBIA?
 - Although in line with most EU standards, Serbia uses the Dinar (RSD).  Average cost for a pint of premium beer in Belgrade is 150 dinars.  That's 1.25 EUR or 1.40 US (approx)!   Your dollars will go much farther in Serbia.

IS IT SAFE TO TRAVEL TO SERBIA?
 - YES!  Like most European destinations, Serbia is a safe country with visitors remarking on how friendly the people are.

IS THE COUNTRY "WAR-TORN"?
 - No.  But there is definitely fatigue from hearing about it.  All photos on this site have been taken in 2014 to present.  Have a look for yourself or better yet, just visit Belgrade!

Food Tip:  If you're in Belgrade and looking for street food, try ordering 'burek'' or 'pljeskavica'.  Burek is a type of flaky dough pastry that is usually filled with either minced meat, cheese or various fruits and is served hot.  If you're up for a real burger, try a pljeskavica!  Similar to a regular burger but usually a blend of meats like pork, lamb and beef.  The patty itself is always very big and traditionally topped with Serbian Ajvar and Kajmak.
